Today, as the number of people working in agriculture declines dramatically due to the falling birthrate and aging population, the production of domestic agricultural products, which is directly related to the safety of our diet and the stability of its supply, is in jeopardy.
For this reason, this project aims to reduce the burden of harvesting work by incorporating automated driving technology into light trucks for agricultural use. In driving to the fields, farm roads and farmland are often unpaved, and the road environment is expected to be unfavorable.
Especially after rainfall, puddles and muddy roads form, and if tires are caught in these puddles and muddy roads, the vehicle will get stuck and driving will not be able to continue. In this project, we are researching a puddle and muddy road characteristic inference system for light trucks in cooperation with Suzuki Motor Corporation.
